Speaker Bio
Jason’s career focuses on the functioning of nature-based systems for food production, the idea of innovation and co-creation, the practice of design thinking, and a predisposition for connecting people and ideas. This has led him into opportunities in agriculture production, applied research, ag tech innovation, and ecosystem development. A drive for understanding and demonstrating the practice of nature-based systems has brought him to develop a passion for understanding and implementing regenerative agriculture systems.

Currently, Jason is working as a regenerative agriculture management consultant helping farmers, ranchers and organizations improve their profitability, increase their functional soil health, and enhance the nutrient density of the food they are growing. A significant part of his work has been developing subject matter expertise in the field of agrivoltaics, defined as the combination of solar energy production focused on soil health using nature-based farming and ranching practices in primary production. An outcome of this is his role as CEO of Sun Cycle Farms, an Alberta based company that specializes in agrivoltaics design, operations/maintenance, and risk mitigation for solar power plant asset owners and land owners alike. As part of his journey across the confluence of the energy and agriculture sectors, Jason has been involved in the Energy Futures Lab as a Fellow providing them an ag lens to view the transition the energy sector is evolving through. In addition, he serves on the Ag For Life – Energy/Agriculture Strategic Advisory Committee who advise the Ag For Life board on key trends in the two sectors and on how Ag for Life might be able to establish leadership positions in new spaces created when cross-sectoral opportunities present themselves.
